Yellowstone Report! Hopper Season- It's On!

This year has DEFINITELY been interesting! Of course, we had the flooding on June 13, 2022 that rocked our world here for a while; However, the fishing through August and September will be excellent! We have been spending a lot of time fishing in Yellowstone National PArk. It is amazing in the PArk right now. The fish are unpressured, we have plenty of water, and you can find a parking spot in-front of the Mammoth General Store. Simply put, this is an amazing year to fish and experience Yellowstone! The Yellowstone RIver is also fishing VERY well. We are happy about the cooler FORECAST for the next few days. The Hoppers are out, and the fish seem to be hungry and willing. Thanks so much for everyone who came out in July and fished with us! We are looking forward to a great August-October fishing season here in Montana and Yellowstone, so give us a call!

Slough Creek Cutty!

YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK

Slough Creek Bliss

As mentioned above, Yellowstone is a pretty SPECTACULAR place right now. There are not a lot of people. IT is the 1970’s version of fishing in the Park…… minus feeding the bears (Of Course!). We can drive you into Yellowstone Though Gardiner during these very specific time frames (subject to change):

Gardiner to Mammoth 7:15-7:45

Mammoth to Gardiner- 12:00-12:15

Mammoth to Gardiner- 5:00-5:15

If you want to get in and fish Yellowstone National Park through Gardiner, give us a call and book your trip today!

Slough Creek, the Lamar, The Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone, and other smaller creeks are all fishing well on hoppers/attractor dries. If you want to fish a totally changed river, Walk up the demolished Gardiner road and cast Hopper/Droppers in the GArdner River. The Gardner River is now a walk-wade access river, only. Walk or bike to fish on the Gardner.

The Yellowstone has been fishing well on Hoppers, PMDs, droppers, and caddis. Most days, we have been fishing a hopper or a hopper/dropper rigs all day. We have started to meet a little earlier in the morning to maximize the cooler parts of the day. The River has changed and has some new channels that are fun to explore. The Yellowstone does not have hoot owl restrictions, but water temps are getting a little warmer downstream of livingston. Keep your eyes on the temps when you are fishing. We expect the fishing to stay very steady on the River through OCTOBER. We have great AVAILABILITy. This is a great time to plan a last minute fishing trip to montana!
